Cross International, an organization that helps us with our “Meals ON Wheels Program for the Elderly” visited Punta Gorda for a week and spent time with Board Members identifying ministry with the Elderly. The group of 13 volunteers with their Pastor got busy cementing a floor passage for an elderly who is bed ridden and depends on her wheel chair for mobilization. As there was no flooring to this house, the wheel chair had to be pushed over the bumpy ground flooring of the house; now that the work is complete the elderly can move around the house with ease. At the completion of the project, the lady was very grateful and the volunteers were elated that they could make life easier for a house bound member of HOPE.
At the end of the work session, the volunteers and Sr. Josefina and Sr. Stephen along with other HOPE members took the elderly to the beach for a picnic. This was the best that could have happened for all as the interaction was super and the food and drinks complimented all. It takes very little to bring joy to home bound citizens.
