Arise and shine forth, for your light has come and the glory of the LORD has dawned upon you. Even though darkness covers the earth and thick darkness enshrouds the peoples, upon you the LORD will shine, and over you his glory will appear.

A beautiful text, because it speaks of light, of the glory of the Lord. The darkness of the earth is outshone by the glory of the Lord.

But there is a call to me! Arise, shine. Don’t remain stolidly seated, not wanting to be seen, but become bright, be illuminated by the glory of the Lord. Above me and above you the LORD rises radiantly; his glory appears over you. Me and you are being looked at.
