In the Generalate house before Christmas we hosted over 30 people from the Polish General Councils of the Institutes of Consecrated Life. Among the invited guests was Archbishop José Rodríguez Carballo, OFM, who was the main speaker at the conference. With reference to the teaching of the Catholic Church, he presented the perspective of religious life in the modern world; highlighting the validity of the testimony of consecrated persons, who are walking out to the periphery of the world towards their prophetic mission.
At the second part of the pre-Christmas meeting we moved to the hospitable community of the Sisters in the Procura, where we celebrated in the Polish tradition.
Our Superior General, Sr. Izabela Świerad, warmly greeted the guests and introduced the international community of Sisters, and invited us to celebrate this pre-holiday meal. By the light of the flickering Christmas ornaments and singing of the Christmas Carols, we gathered together to exchange wishes, and to share opłatek. A surprise for the guests was the delicious Christmas Eve meal prepared by Sr. Hanna and her staff. This particular meal has a cherished tradition for all Polish people everywhere. Our guests were very appreciated.
