The General Assembly of the UAC met at Grottaferrata from 9 -13 January 2015. The meeting was attended by 37 members from 13 countries: President of the Union and GCC members, Presidents of the National Coordination Councils, General Secretariats, experts, and invited speakers.
The first day was dedicated to diverse reports given by the President of the Union, General Secretary, General Treasurer, and Chairman of the International Formation Commission and the Chairmen of the National Coordination Councils.
On Sunday morning participants heard two interesting talks from outside speakers Fr. Carlino Panzeri from Rome and Mrs. Izabela Owczaruk, from Warsaw, who showed the beauty of the Sacrament of Matrimony and its spiritual strength, as well as problems from the psychology perspectives , which the modern family is facing today. They also showed ways to support them with the possibility and space of involvement and cooperation of members of the Union.
In the second part of Sunday’s meeting were presented the key issues and challenges which are standing before the Union, today. Topics related to the deepening of the identity and charism of the UAC, the structures of the Union, economic and practical issues according to the General Statutes.
The third and fourth days were dedicated entirely to the election of new members of the GCC and new proposals. Days were filled with prayer and work. All the participants felt the accompaniment of the Holy Spirit, and His special presence during these meetings.
The dynamism of the meeting and the many activities of the Union in the world have shown that the Union is growing; it is still up to date and is recognized as a “sign of our times.” The UAC General Assembly was also the experience of our “rich/precious diversity” as told us St. Vincent Pallotti. These days showed the actual and life of our charism, through the experience of great unity in diversity. We entrust to God the new General Council of the UAC and this meeting, hoping that it will bear fruit in the everyday life of the Union in every corner of the world.
