The first working day of the Chapter is devoted to the reports of the Superior General and the General Treasurer. The day began with Holy Mass. during which, in reference to the Gospel of the day, Fr. Martin pointed to the need to open the eyes of faith – which means being sensitive and attentive to God and other people. The blind man from the Gospel of St. Luke and the saint of the day, St. Albert the Great, had a great desire to meet and know Christ. God, who is always new in the gifts of his love, invites each of us to be open to the other. Christ wants us to follow Him as seeing persons.
In the morning session, Sr. Izabela Świerad, SAC, Superior General, presented the report on the years 2016-2021, touching upon the fundamental pillars of the Congregation: charism, spiritual life, formation, education, community life, unity with the Church, spiritual renewal, Life Principles, missionary spirit …
During the discussion, the Sisters first of all expressed their gratitude to Sister Izabela for many years of dedicated service in the general administration, and for the last 12 years as Superior General. There were also comments and questions concerning the development of the mission ad gentes and on building sisterly relations in an intercultural and international spirit.
Punctually at noon, the Sisters remained silent before the Blessed Sacrament, and the afternoon session began at 3 pm with the presentation of the Congregation’s financial report by Sr. Anna Małdrzykowska, SAC, general treasurer.
The day ended with a prayer – a commemoration of the Sisters who passed away to eternity in the years 2016 to 2021. In a PowerPoint presentation, Sr. Izabela showed their photos and read out all their names, inviting us to pray for them.
