Today, on the feast of St. Andrew the Apostle, we also celebrated Sr. Stella Holisz’s birthday and prayed for her and in her intentions during Mass. After the Gospel, Fr. Martin read a reflection by Fr Jean Bertrand Etoundi SAC which, with its connection between mission/apostolate and spirituality, offered a good complement to the impulses of yesterday.
The work sessions of this day were dedicated to Congregational matters. Sr. Adelheid Scheloske reported on her work as General Archivist. She is preparing the materials in Limburg and Rome digitally so that historical questions can be researched more easily. She suggested that training be offered for the Sisters who work in the secretariats and archives on the criteria for selecting materials to be archived and their correct storage in the archives.
Sr. Iwona Nadziejko gave an overview of the work of the Commission on Our Way of Life. In the discussion, a commentary on OWL, especially ch. 7, and translation issues were discussed. The capitulars also discussed the guidelines for the protection of minors and vulnerable adults, for which Sr. Maria Landsberger has already done some preliminary work.
In the afternoon, Sr. Josephina D’Souza reported on the changes in the Provincial Handbook. The final revised English version is expected to be distributed in this Chapter, the other languages will follow early next year.
Sr. Magdalena Pinto reported on the work in the Procura. It is an important challenge to qualify sisters for the tasks here so that the house can continue to fulfil its purpose for the whole congregation in the future.
Sr. Izabela Świerad, Superior General, drew attention to the fact that the website set up for the whole Congregation needs a new administrator. The website has been created due to the decision of the XIX General Chapter and is a good support for the connection of the different Regions, Provinces and Delegations, as it presents important information from all entities in three languages.
The meeting ended with references to the Papal Audience tomorrow and with Vespers, which we prayed together in the Aula.
