From the 7th to the 11th of July 2014, a Study Week of the St. Vincent Pallotti Institute took place in Rome at the Spiritual Center Cenacle on Via Giuseppe Ferrari. It dealt with the certainties and doubts in the life of Vincent Pallotti and his foundations. It drew representatives from Pallotti Institutes all over the world. Besides those of the Italian Institute, there were those of the different languages groups: German, Polish, English (in India), Portuguese (in Brazil) and French (in Cameroon). Each day the Eucharist was celebrated in Queen of Apostles Church next door.
After the opening exercises on Monday, the topics on Tuesday concentrated on Pallotti’s concept of apostolate: collaboration and its basics. Wednesday concerned itself with those to whom Pallotti was related: Congregation of the Propaganda Fide; the work of that Propagation in Lyons, France; Pope Pius IX, Gioacchino Ventura and Antonio Rosmini-Serbati. On Thursday certainties and doubts filled the agenda: regarding the “Maxims of Eternity” of St. Alphonsus Liguori in Arabic; the foundation dates of each of the core communities; the Latin letters; the death of Luigi Pallotti; and the chronology of St. Vincent’s life.
Sister Adelheid Scheloske SAC presented a material with important dates on the foundation of the Sisters’ communities. Sister developed the topic on the Missionary Sisters and their place within the Union. On Friday some conclusions were reached, as well as perspectives for the future. After a visit to the room and museum of Pallotti, the Eucharistic Liturgy in San Salvatore in Onda at the tomb of St. Vincent Pallotti, and an agape in the Generalate of the Society, the Study Week of the Institute concluded on a very satisfied and happy note.
