A canonical visitation from the Generalate took place in Cameroon from 27.01. to 20.02. 2025. Councillors Sister Marie Claire Mukeshimana and Sister Alda Paes were entrusted with this task. The sisters began the visitation by visiting all our missions, beginning with Bafoussam, then Yaounde-Mvolye, Yaounde Nkolbisson and Doume. The sisters accompanied us in our daily life, met with each sister individually and, where possible, met with the bishops of the dioceses where we are present. We did not forget our Pallottine brothers who are already a Province in Cameroon and with whom we try to collaborate where our communities are.
The visiting sisters had the opportunity to visit the places connected with the beginnings of our congregation in Dschang and Mvolye where the houses of our first sisters have been preserved. The time of the visitation also coincided with 2 celebrations: the Day of Consecrated Life, which was celebrated on a national scale this year, and the Youth Day, during which parades were held throughout the country.
At the end of the visitation, three meetings took place. Sister Marie Claire first met with the Junior Sisters. This was followed by a meeting with the perpetually professed sisters. It was a very fruitful meeting in which we discovered our strengths but also our weaknesses, the group work gave us the opportunity to share our experiences and hear one another. The last meeting was the encounter between the General Councillors and the Delegature Council. The Sister Visitors shared their observations and it was a time of mutual discernment of God’s will for our Delegature and Congregation.
We believe that the time of the canonical visitation from the Generalate was blessed and full of grace. The General Councillors tried to introduce the spirit of synodality, of sisterly openness and of listening to each other. We would like to thank Sr. Josephine D’Souza and the General Administration for their cooperation so far. In particular, we thank Sister Marie Claire and Sister Alda for the effort of the visitation and the time spent together. May God continue His work that He has begun.
