The theme for the Assembly is: “Whoever Is Thirsty, Come to Me” (Jn. 7:37). We began this morning with the Holy Mass celebrated by Fr. Markus Reck, SAC, General Secretary. In his homily he said that the expression of living water stands for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Whoever believes in Him the rivers of living water will flow from within which is the way to the sanctity.
We concluded the Liturgy with the blessings of throats in recognition of St. Blasé—celebrated as they do in Switzerland, with the lit candles.
Our meeting began in earnest with a warm welcome from the Superior General, Sr. Izabela Świerad:
“We Pallottine leaders, with one mind and soul, gathered together in this Cenacle, in the spirit of love, need to call the Holy Spirit upon us, that He will lead us, and enlighten us in this process of our renewal … it is also important that we remain rooted in our charism and also have an identity that shows a passion for Christ and for the missions; and take from the past the best for the future.”
We began the Provincial/Delegature/Region reports with Sr. Inacinha Fernandes, from India; Sr. Marta Litawa from Rwanda/Democratic Republic of the Congo; Sr. Maria Dörig from Switzerland; and, Sr. Boscona Schämaan from South Africa.
The Sisters updated the Assembly with the current situations in the prospective countries. We had much to learn, much to be grateful for, and still more to lift in prayer. We all came by different boats but, now we are on the one ship called Pallottine Missionary Sisters. God helps this ship to sail against the currents of life, and with His grace we shall sail across the oceans to make His Kingdom present.
