Advent Thoughts
We pause, as evening candlelight
Cradles the darkening horizon,
Capturing the fast fading rays
Of the slowly setting winter sun,
Ending yet another work-filled day.
It is a quiet time,
And we easily wait,
Fully expecting gentle
Miracles of magnificent
Triumph of good over evil –
Like the birthing of a Savior,
In graceful simplicity,
New light projecting itself
Through the weary ages
Of perpetual darkness and gloom.
GOD walks among the people
Proclaiming a comforting
Message of fidelity and hope
In the quiet of a starry night,
Shouting unconditional Love!
An Advent, tumbling into a world
Devoid of light, burning Love’s image
Into the hearts of all listeners
Who follow the dancing fingers
Of eternal blazing brightness to
The final journey’s end.
Grace in a slender purple candle:
A symbol of exciting New Life,
As we follow the fire-filled flame
Illuminating the jet black darkness,
Transforming it into vibrant color,
Revealing the way a vision of tomorrow.
“Come, Lord Jesus,” we shout
Into the relentless, raging wind,
“The time has now come for
For the fullness of life, and
With all our heart and soul,
We pray anew, – PLEASE Come!“
