On Saturday evening, June 22, 2019, Sr. Izabela Świerad, Sr. Josephine D´Sousa, Sr. Maria Landsberger and Sr. Antje Eichhorn OSB participated in the celebration of the Feast of Corpus Christi in the Vatican Gardens. It is a tradition that the Priests’ College of Campo Santo Teutonico at the Vatican, led by Rector Msgr Hans-Peter Fischer, organizes the Feast of Corpus Christi for the German-speaking inhabitants and pilgrims.
The Eucharistic celebration took place at the Marian Grotto under the presidency of Archbishop Pio Vito Pinto, Dean of the Rota Romana. The following Eucharistic procession was supported by 5 bands from Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Italy. In a dignified atmosphere we could accompany the Lord through the wonderful scenery of the Vatican Gardens, past the residence of Pope Benedict XVI and Pope Francis, the Casa Santa Marta – back to Campo Santo, where we received the Eucharistic blessing.
At the end all the bands played together with a powerful sound the national anthems of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, the Vatican and Europe. It was an impressive sign of unity based on faith in the presence of the Lord.
