On Friday, November 10, during the solemn Mass. celebrated in the Church of San Salvatore in Onda for the upcoming XXI General Chapter, Sr. Izabela Świerad, Superior General, presented in front of the altar of St. Vincent Pallotti, a burning candle – a sign of our prayer and cry for the light of the Spirit for the whole Congregation, which will be burning continuously throughout the chapter. The candle also commemorates the year of St. Joseph and of the Holy Family.
The processional lead by the burning light is a reminder of the words: You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven (Mt 5, 14-16).
Holy Mass was preceded by the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and a conference by Fr. Jacob Nampudakama, SAC, Superior General, for our Sisters in the General Leadership Team. Fr. Jacob drew our attention to the fact that the end of the service in the general leadership is an invitation to gratitude and to deep reflection: what has each of the Sisters learnt, and what vision of the future does she see on the near horizon?
In his homily Fr Jacob especially underlined – referring to the Gospel of the day about the ten healed from leprosy – the attitude of gratitude to God.
The adoration and the Holy Mass were attended by the Pallottine Sisters of Rome led by Sr Ivete Garlet, CSAC, Superior General, our Sisters and lay members of the Union.
May the Holy Spirit guide us and enlighten our way!
