On 1 March 2025, our Generalate community hosted the General Assembly of the Association of Africans and Malagasies at the Service of Generalates (AMSG), of which Sr. Marie Claire is a member. The more than 30 women and men religious reflected on the follow-up to the Synod on Synodality in the Church in Africa, based on the final document of the Synod #60. Sharing on their experiences of the Church in Africa raised awareness of the role of women in the Church in general and an understanding of the commitment and responsibility of African women in particular. The participants realised that it is important to build relationships and give space to women within the Church in Africa. One of the challenges they encounter is the reality of difficult relationships and the integration of women into the life of the Church that often arise between parishes, dioceses and religious institutes. The African religious leaders in Rome are keen to proactively address this challenge by developing and building lasting relationships and partnerships with dioceses and bishops in Africa.
This General Assembly of the AMSG was also the time to elect the new Executive Committee and plan common activities for the Holy Year 2025. Sr. Marie Claire Mukeshimana was elected as Vice President of the ten-member board.
The meeting concluded with a Mass of thanksgiving in the chapel of our Generalate and a fraternal agape in our Procura Generale.
By hosting this complex and composite group, we experienced once again that our Pallottine charism and mission provide the right background for such an experience, while bringing at the same time our original touch to the Church and the world of our time: a passion for cooperation.
