A pilgrimage to San Giorgio and Cascia
This Sunday we traveled to a picturesque place of origin of St. Vincent Pallotti’s family. San Giorgio is a tiny village, beautifully located in the mountains of Umbria. The Pallotti family still lives there today.
We began our meeting by celebrating the Eucharist together. It was celebrated by Fr. Natale who has been serving in this place since 1947. St. Vincent Pallotti’s figure stands in the presbytery of the Church, and on the opposite wall there is an amazing relic – a cassock.
After the Holy Mass we had a joyful agape with the descendants of our Founder. We were all very moved, enthusiastic, happy and full of delight – such was the atmosphere of this event.
Holiness knows no boundries, no time nor place. We experienced the truth that everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters for the sake of Jesus will receive a hundred times as much (cf. Matt 19:29).
From San Giorgio we went to Cascia, home of St. Rita. We saw places which commemore her – her birthplace, a house in which she lived with her family, and her convent where she stayed until her death. Kindness of the people that we met and praying together in joy and peace multiplied our hope and trust. Let the Lord be glorified in His Saints. Halleluiah.
