It is a historical moment for the John Paul II Delegature of Pallottine Missionary Sisters in Cameroon, to host an international formation meeting for the sisters of our Congregation, who made their final profession in the year 2023. The nine young sisters from Tanzania, Rwanda, India and Cameroon are gathering in the Diocesan Spirituality Centre John XXIII in Yaoundé for a two-week formation programme with the theme ” Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone” (Mk 16:15).
This programme is organised by the General Administration, hence Sr. Josephina D’Souza, Superior General, and Sr. Marie Claire Mukeshimana, General Councillor and coordinator for formation, are present to animate the group. The programme commenced on 31 October and will conclude on 19 November 2023.
It was opened with a Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr. Patrice Mekana, Provincial Councillor of the Pallottine Fathers and Brothers in Cameroon. In her opening address, the Superior General expressed her joy at this significant moment and recalled our first pioneer sisters who came as missionaries from Germany. Till today, people in Cameroon remember them and call them mothers of faith. She also drew the attention of the sisters to our identity as missionaries and to the invitation of Pope Francis to leave the comfort zones and go to the peripheries to bring the joy of the Gospel.
The different topics and dynamics as well as visiting the different mission centres of our pioneers will empower the participants to revive and rekindle the missionary spirit in their religious life. It will also be a unique experience for the sisters to take part in the silver jubilee of the re-establishment of the mission in Cameroon by the Polish missionaries of our Congregation and to witness the final profession of a Cameroonian sister.
We are convinced that the days spent together sharing, laughing and working in a multicultural group will enhance and strengthen the spirit of unity in diversity in the life of the sisters.
