The first steps in Rome, during our formation program, lead us through the tracks of our Founder, St. Vincent Pallotti.
First, we visited the Pia Casa di Carità, where together with the community of the Roman Pallottine Sisters (CSAC) we celebrated the Eucharist. Then, starting from the front door of this first Pallottine foundation, step by step, we walked every path inside the house, where Pallotti had moved around many times. Today, there are many souvenirs – mementoes collected at that place – and they recall his vivid presence.
Walking through the beautiful streets of Rome added a good flavor to our search for the places that were marked by Pallotti´s presence. Until today, these streets remain eloquent witnesses of his apostolic efforts.
We also visited the house of our Founder, prayed in his chapel, saw the room where he had lived and worked. We also participated several times in the Holy Mass celebrated at the Founder’s tomb n the church of SS Salvatore in Onda. For us, the Pallottines, who carry his name to this day, it is a source to strengthen our vocation.
It was a very touching experience when we made a pilgrimage through the picturesque Umbrian countryside, up to the hilly terrain of San Giorgio, where the new generation of Pallotti’s family is living today. The common Eucharist and the joy of meeting the descendants of the Saint´s family will help us to keep Vincent Pallotti in our hearts, and with gratitude.
The crowning event of this „Pallotti journey“ was the conference of Fr. Jan Kupka, SAC on the theme The Spiritual Way of St. Vincent Pallotti in the perspective of current events.
All the encounters with our Founder Saint Vincent Pallotti we want to take as a continuation of the celebration of the 200th anniversary of his priestly ordination.
