More than 2,300 ideas were registered in 10 countries (Belize, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela) and 100 proposals (10 in each country) were selected to start the program. After several weeks of teamwork, the 30 best (3 in each country) were selected to compete for the representation of their country in the 2023 regional semi-final.
Pallotti High School Rotec Team with their proposal – The Smartz (smart blind stick) was the winner in Belize for the Samsung Electronics Latin America and Glasswing International – Solve for Tomorrow 2023 competition.
The team members Students: Alair Miracle Marin, Amber Wright, Irian Maree Jones and Osvani Magaña and teacher: Dr. Abraham Flowers had to work diligently in order to win the final competition. They had to create a video about their project and create a prototype to present to an international jury that evaluated the participants in September where the finalist was selected. Our students made it to the finalist and represented Belize.
The entire Pallotti High School community was very supportive of our students as they represented the country well by becoming the champion for the Solve for Tomorrow 2023 competition.
This exposure and experience in this competition taught our students what the textbook would not teach them. They return as champions not only for the country but also as ambassadors for their school and most of all the Lord. They garner their strength in the Lord through prayers.
Sr. Clara Teul, Principal of Pallotti High School
