For the UAC in the greater Rome area, the celebration of the 19th anniversary of the ecclesiastical approval of the Union of the Catholic Apostolate took place on 29 October 2022 at the Church of Spirito Santo dei Napoletani. Its motto was “We walk together to build peace” and it started a series of events focusing on the war and crisis zones where the Pallottine Family is present.
A large number of Pallottine Sisters from both Congregations, Pallottine Fathers and Brothers, and lay people had gathered for the half-hour prayer for peace. On this evening the situation in Ukraine was brought before God. The planned video transmission of a testimony of the Pallottine family in Ukraine could not be played due to the impaired power supply caused by the war. However, a video report on the commitment of the National Coordination Council of the UAC in Poland for the Ukrainian refugees in the country could be broadcast.
After the prayer, all celebrated the Sunday Eve Mass together, presided over by the newly elected Rector General of the Pallottines, Fr. Zenon Hanas. His predecessor, Fr. Jacob Nampudakam, gave the homily as President of the Union.
The evening was the start of a series of events that will commemorate Pallottine involvement in different war zones until 22 January 2023: Rwanda / Congo and Nigeria, Mozambique and Cameroon, Colombia and Venezuela. Linked to this is a fundraising campaign to support the Pallottine Family’s efforts to help the populations affected by the war.
