Some years ago young people in Switzerland were asked the following question:
“What do you think of Jesus Christ?”
This one answer has deeply impressed me:
“What do I think of Christ? That he is one who keeps me!”
The apostle Paul says:
“Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution,
or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Nothing can separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord”. Romans 8, 35.39
When we give precedence to Christ in all, then we are connected with many people:
Vincent Pallotti responds to the request for a rule for his foundation:
“Your rule is the Gospel of Jesus Christ!”
In “Our way of life”, the constitution of the Pallottine Sisters,
Christ is presented as the unifying center:
“Jesus Christ is the center of our life.
From him our entire life derives meaning and significance”. OWL 69
Ignatius of Loyola says:
“Christ I seek,
the power of his resurrection and the community with his suffering”.
Richard Rohr OSF, a modern mystic says:
“God, Jesus Christ, lives in me – Do I really know it?”
